We are 37 games into the 38-game Premier League season and the most important game of all is finally here.
The game between Tottenham Hotspur and defending champions Manchester City should have been held on week 34 of the 2023/24 season, but fixture clashes made the league management move the game to week 37.
That small adjustment made the game into the most important game of the season. Spurs have the opportunity to seal a European spot with a win while also giving Arsenal the Premier League title.
A draw will send the league title race down to the wire but officially scupper Spurs' European chances, and a loss will ruin their chances and Arsenal's title chances as well.
A section of Spurs’ fans care more about making Arsenal lose the league than them winning. Ange Postecoglou told journalists who asked him his thoughts on the issue to “go outside”.
"I understand rivalry. I was part of one of the biggest ones in the world in the last couple of years with Celtic and Rangers," the Spurs boss said. "But I've never, and will never, understand if someone wants their own team to lose. That's not what sport is about. It's not what I love about the game.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal players Kai Havertz and William Saliba are sending their support to their city rivals ahead of their clash with Man City.
Havertz told Sky Sports: "We're going to be the biggest Tottenham fans. We are all going to be. Let's hope for the best."
Saliba, meanwhile, called for prayers and hope from Arsenal fans towards Spurs' success. "We know Man City can decide if they win or not, but we have to do our job to not have any regrets at the end,” he said.
"We did our job [against Man Utd] and we have to do it next week.”
"Let's see on Tuesday. They have to play against Tottenham and let's pray and hope. We will be Tottenham supporters on Tuesday for one game only.”
If this is not enough, Arsenal legend and current TV pundit Paul Merson has promised to get a tattoo of the Spurs logo if they beat City.
“If they win [against City], I'll have a Tottenham tattoo!," he added. "It'll be that little cockerel on the ball [Spurs' badge]. I will have it, I tell you, I will have it!”
